Hi! I currently have an XR400R (98) and I ride a lot of tight trails with steep hills and plenty of rocks. My 400 gets awful heavy throwing it around in this type of terrain. In addition it is a bear to start in some situations. I am preparing to extend my riding into more open and faster trails in addition to tight trails. I am over 6´4" and 240 without riding gear. I am 40 years old and am also wanting to get into some Enduro racing and scrambles for fun. I have been riding dirt and street since I was 8. I have just started getting serious about the KTM 525 EXC since it is lighter than even the 450 Enduros out there and packs a bigger punch which I sometimes need due to my size. My questions are...Is this bike a reliable choice? I want to be able to set it up for me and ride reliably for some time without blowing expensive parts. From what I have seen parts are just as cheap, if not cheaper, than the Japanese Bikes. Is this true? I don´t think any of these new 4 strokes could possibly be as reliable as my XR but are they even close. Is it true this bike will handle better than my XR in the tight stuff since it weighs less? I am convinced it would handle better on open trails than my XR due to it´s updated suspension? Any help from knowlegable people would be appreciated. Thanks John |
