Top end??

The past weekend my 250sx tightened up on me in 4th gear. Once the bike cooled down I was able to move the kickstart to motions up and down to reach tdc and it locked back up, now it sits. Im wondering if im I will just need a new piston and clean the bore or if this is a common problem with this bike?
