I love my ktm..i bought a 2004 ktm 250 sx..i love everything about the bike...your steering is most likely unstable because of wrong suspension adjustments..my guess would be that your forks are to stiff...if you are not a big rider try adjusting them so they are as loose as they can go...and then tighten them from there until you find a happy medium...tighten them a few notches see how you like it..until you are happy with the bike...Eric
