Scottie, my Beloved, rides a 1996 Suzuki Bandit GSF 1200, and was recently forced to re-fit a standard exhaust to replace a damaged Scorpion model, which has been out of production for some time, and seems to have become obsolete. His other modifications were to check the valve clearances, since when the performance has been nice and quick, and to replace the oil with API SL CF semi-synthetic 10w 40.
Unfortunately, it now seems to have developed a serious overheating problem, and a peculiar, indefinable, ticking noise coming from the front end which only became apparent after he´d fitted the quieter pipe.
Has anyone else come across this particular problem before, and how did you fix it, please? Some sound, technical, advice to help him sort this out would be greatly appreciated. His e-mail address is iaincscott@yahoo.co.uk for any replies.
We´re heading for Stormin´ this weekend, and although I´m happy to share my elderly KZ400 with him, I don´t really fancy the thought of a 500 mile round trip as the pillion passenger on my own bike all that much.
Yours, with thanks,
Fionna
