with those CO pipes, are you sure it works like this??

i thought it actually sucks fresh air from the air cleaner directly to the exhaust pipes. Fresh air mixes with yet hot smoke, and let it burn even more, resulting less smoke polution, and less CO.

thing what you described is called gas recirculation system, and it is very common on car engines.
