Overheat IN San Antonio

I was just driving my newly bought suzuki 1400 intruder 2001 model and it started to quit on me. The engine was so hot that I was burning my fingers with gloves on trying to check the oil. What possibly could be going wrong? The oil levels are fine, it says air/oil cooled on my manual... I don´t know what to make of it. The only thing is it´s radiating heat tremendously. It was still too hot to touch after letting it sit for 2 hours.
Please let me know what needs to be done.
