Oil leak?

I was just riding and noticed some resistance, like the front brake was stuck on or something. When I got home I noticed oil splattered around the oil filter and on the motor near and on the spark plugs. The oil seemed to be at the top of the V where the cylinder meets the chrome top. When I check the oil it didn´t seem to have any, at least not on what I assume is the dip stick. I was going to clean it up, fill the oil, and ride for a bit to see if I can figure out where it´s coming from. The oil filter seems to be on tight. Any suggestions?
