I have owned my 1000S since 1998, when I purchased it the odometer reading was 42,316 it is now 99,716 (5/3/2003) my wife and I have travelled round Europe on it for the last 3 years and attended numerous rallies both in Europe and the U.K. We find it a fantastic tourer, I have fitted a full Dolphin (Sprint Engineering) fairing on lobg tours we average two up and fully loaded 46mpg (UK gallons) and it burns about 1 litre of oil in 2,500 miles. We cruise all day
at 75 - 80mph and it has the ability to hold 100 mph when needed without strain. Touch wood, we have had no major problems, the spares are easy to get, I replaced the clutch last year (just in case) it was just on the Guzzi wear limit, I have fitted Lucas Rita ignition, Mistral silencers, K & N filters and full Givi luggage, we are off to Poland this year, I could not recommend this motorcycle enough for someone who wants a good tourter which also doubles as a fun bike when you arrive at your destination, it sound and looks gorgeous
