don´t know who told you that but I sure have not heard it. Contact engineers at the oil companies, or at Moto Guzzi them selves for that matter. Really doubt you will find it to be true, the only problem with true synthetic oil is cost, older Guzzi´s seem to do pretty well on semi synthetic´s just use correct weight and not car oil and you should be good to go!
