Take the old kick to the scrappy, and compare it to a 4-stroke 125 suzuki unit. Since this is basically a Suzuki engine with a different head on it, I think you may be pleasantly surprised.

As for tuning? I´m currently rebuilding a stolen/recovered RX, may be tuning it. If I do, I´ll give a step by step.

One thing I have read is that people (and some dealers, apparently) are fitting the bore kit from Honda GL200s, modifying the airbox and exhaust, and re-jetting to give a lot more power. This would tend to indicate a restrictor in the exhaust, for a start.
