I bought a used 2007 ST3S in LA in 2008. After some work (the rear cylinder cam timing was about 20 degrees off, a Power Commander set up on a local (San Diego) dyno + a Fat Duc low throttle setting O2 sensor adjuster) it is a truly lovely motorcycle. 88 real wheel horsepower on a local dyno and 40 mpg! I didn´t realize how hard I was working to ride a BMW K1200RS (my previous mc) until I got the ST3S. Ducatis have come a long way since my 750 GT and 900 GTS machines in the 1970s. I don´t enjoy maintaining a chain again after 25 years of BMW riding but the ST3S is proof that modern chains are not as aggravating as they used to be. I now have 13,000+ miles on the ST3S and intend to ride it to Idaho next Summer with my daughter who has a Monster 620ie. We enjoy taking mc trips together.
