My EFI 2005 Softail Springer Classic, delivered in May, has the following performance mods: 95 CI Big bore cylinders (stock is 88 CI) 9.5-1 cast flat-top pistons (stock is 8.9-1) H-D SE-204 cams (stock cams are for emissions, not HP) H-D Free-flow air cleaner and vintage cover H-D Race Tuner (needed to adjust the EFI for mods. above) RoadHouse Brand 2-1 Exhaust with "Quiet" Muffler pack (looks like a 40´s Harley and works MUCH better than the stock 2-2) Here in Denver at 5,280 feet it dynoed 90 ft/lbs of torque and 79.5 HP at 4,000 rpm with a very flat torque curve after break-in. You should do much better at lower altitudes. If you haven´t tried the big bore kit, the bike was designed for it (so I am told) and it really feels much stronger than 88 CI. Since I had to replace the pistons anyway, I went for a little more compression. The 204 cams work great, although I am told the bike could use even a 211 or 257 cam and 10.5-1 pistons with no problem. These mods really wake the bike up. You won´t believe the difference from the stock bike. |
