hi I´ve had my 996s from new in 2001 just last month i had problems with the engine cutting out during a ride , it would crank over but not fire up ,,, wait a couple of minutes then it would be ok to get home . There was no loss of power so i assumed it was electrical . I finally traced it to not very good connections on either the ECU or the EEPROM in the ECU I just unplugged the ecu cleaned the connections applied a tiny bit of wd40 to them and replugged it , did the same to the eeprom hey presto its spot on again. I hope this helps anybody with a similar problem. Cheers
