Hello Gio, in answer to some of your questions, herewith some general information. You really should be carefull not to be fooled by a make over of a regular 998. When buying an S-version, there are some typical visual differences from a "regular" 998. Besides the 50 mm exhaust system (instead of a 45 mm version)and the carbon fibre lower fairing, the steering damper should be an öhlins adjustable one and the brake callipers should be Brembo P4 and not P3 (allthough this is not 100 % the case, the P4 series is originally only meant for the S and R version of the 998). Also the front discs from an S look different from those from a 998. These specifications however are all interchangable if not the oil pan. This has (likewise the R-version) a typical pointy oil pan to make sure that at high performance the lubrication stays OK. As far as I know this is the only not interchangable part of the S. You can´t be fooled by this. I my self are 1.80 m tall and this is more or less the ideal shape for riding the bike. Some adjustment can be made by mounting different kind of foot pegs. The bike is really not made for heavvy traffic driving, but knowing it is a high performance superbike it´s not too bad at all. When driving in traffic jams the engine gets hot verry soon. Regular temparatures lay within range of 80 - 105 oC. The cooler has two fans, the first one comes within operation at about 101 oC, the other one a couple of oC higher. Finally, a twin seat (biposto) means no extra comfort compared with a monoposto. OK, this more or less is it. I myself bought a 998 S (monoposto)originally sold in Germany and have improved it with lots of carbon fibre options. It goes like a rocket and is real fun. Hope you succeed in finding the right 998S. Greetings, Frank The Netherlands |
