Do I have a 996 or 996S

I am selling my 996. I thought I had a 996S, until a savy shopper pointed out it should have a production number above the fork, which my does not. I suspect the previous owner wreaked it on the track and replaced parts. Is there another way to verify if it is an S model? VIN serches will not specify which and my bike has all the S components.
