KTM 250 2 stroke vs 4 stroke

I´m looking to purchase KTM 250 and someone told me the 4 stroke handle about the same as 2 stroke. When I use to ride dirt bikes 10 years ago there was a big difference in speed so have a hard time believing that.

Can anyone that has rode both respond?
