Oil Change

I recently purchased a virago off of someone at work. A couple of months ago I changed the oil and came across a problem, I couldn´t get to the oil filter. One of the bolts for the oil filter is behind the exhaust pipe in the front. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks on how to remove the filter without removing to many other parts on the bike.
