Yam XT600 workshop manuals for unpublished years

Hello all. I am brand new to this sort of e-forum type thing so forgive any stupid mistakes I may make. Basically, at the moment, I have one question. I have bought a 2002 Yamaha XT600 (in the UK) but I have the option of buying (at some considerable expense!) either the 1990 workshop manual OR the 2004 workshop manual. Of course I know that the 2004 is nearer the birthday of my bike but I can also see there have been some fairly major mods over the years. Could anyone out there in cyberland advice me which workshop manual is the more appropriate to go for (1990 or 2004)? Many thanks in advance for your time and replies.
