2nd gear problems

Yes I love this bike. even with the 2nd gear problems that seem to be part of being a RF900 rider. While still riding and looking for a way to fix the problem without a lot of money(my son is in college now). The transmission Locked up on me at 40 MPH. I think a piece of 2nd gear came off and locked it. Hate to think what could of happened on the highway at 65+. But anyway I´m going to try a rebuild on trany myself.I have a maintenance CD with some pretty good diagrams and info but more is always good.I´ve looked on other discussion groups and one guy said parts will run about $250. all help welcome !!
