WR 400 Cold start problem?

I have just purchased a 2000 WR400. Great bike when it´s warm, but I´m having a hell of a job to start it when cold, i.e. left overnight. I follow the golden rule of leaving the throttle alobne, but she just don´t like to start. The spark plug currently in place is a NGK CR8E, would a different plug help?

I don´t have an ownners/workshop manual with it yet, so are there any tips I can be given on getting the cold start knack right.

Please advise

Many thx

Brian
