BMW R80 a great all rounder |

I purchased my 1994 R80 2nd hand with 37000km on the clock. The bike was in excellent mechanical condition but in need of a good clean. It was fitted with an aftermarket full faring that works incredibly well, offering excellent protection from wind and rain. I have resprayed the bike in BMW motorsport colours and it now looks great. I ride with the BMW motorcycle club in Cape Town and to date have had excellent service from the bike. It returns an average fuel consumption of 16km/lt and is 100% reliable and requires minimum maintenance. I have no problem keeping up with the other riders most of whom have more modern machinery, mostly BMW RT and 1200 GT and R1000s bikes. I have gained an enormous amount of respect for this R80 and can say that it is the best value for money bike I have ever owned in my 27 years of motorcycling. |
