It´s a great bike, the last production of 2 valves boxer engines ; only 3003 units were built in Spandau (Berlin) in 1996. It was never imported in Belgium, only 50 in France, and I´ve been told only 15 in the UK. There are lots of components to tune the engine and transmission, supensions and brakes, although it´s a very nice bike to ride in it´s original condition, and it´s quite easy to find spare parts. I sold my R 1150 GS Adventure (the best bike I´ve ever had) to ride the R 80 GS Basic because I like it´s charm more than performance and efficiency. But I also enjoy riding the R 80 G/S, the one with monolever and 18´ rear wheel, which is much lighter, but the front fork needs to be changed for a good one such as the Marzocchi that equipped the paralever models.
