go to www.chromeheads.org and find all your answers.

The OEM quick release is made of plastic and prone to cracking and failing over time. Replace with metal version from CPC. Aftermarket from CPC directly or McMaster Carr or other supplier. Much cheaper than going to BMW. I replaced both of mine for less than $50 and that included shipping. Good luck!
