My wife has a Softail Hertiage she had a 1200 2003 Sporster which she like but the softail is so much easier to handle and rice I have a 2004 road glide and I enjoy riding her bike as much as I doo mine.I had the same problem with the gas gauge I took it out and cut the metal piece sticking through the float took care of the problem.
