Have you looked at the BMW boxers R1150RT or R1200RT. Heavy, but not as heavy as the K models and they handle amazingly. All bikes should have suspension like that. Forks work on race tracks but on roads something with built-in antidive is much better. Servicing cost is reasonable too - easy access to most service items.
