This is the real Achilles heel of what is basically a great idea. This is The most expensive BMW motorbike to service by a long way. In the initial warranty period I was paying for two services a year at the prescribed 4500 mile intervals. These were in excess of £300 per service! that´s £600 per year, which would have doubled the price of the bike in five or six years and That excudes the two new tyres a year I have been averaging. A word of warning ragarding rear tyres. Not everyone will do this for you as it can take anything up to an hour to remove and refit the wheel neccesitating a considerable amount of dismantling. Wattling tyres did it for me for the cost of the tyre (about £50)whilst the dealership where I bought it wanted £150 on top of the tyre cost! I now do most of my own servicing which is time consuming rather than difficult as you have to take off most of the body panels to do some fairly minor jobs. BMW do not make this easy for owners as they do not like to sell special tools and when you order one it can take weeks or months to arrive. |
