Hi Dave, my Trophy is a ´94 Model. The ignition trouble came with later models. I bought it used with 15,000 km and I am driving and taking good care of it for 93,000 km now. I don´t think that todays trouble comes from previos owners bad care. Sure a trophy is not made for gravel, but when there is 1000 km of gravel on a 7,000 km trip so what? For real hard tours (iceland, marrocco) I use a 82 model Yamaha XT 250, a clasic dirt bike with 110 kg light. A tiger is too heavy for real gravel and offroad, unless you are a real good offroad driver. Looking at security and wildstock on the road I don´t drive fast on gravel anyhow, thus 17 hp is fine and I prefer the light bike. Anyhow, more than 80,000 km of travel with the Trophy was smooth cruising on good roads at low rpm and speed limits and that´s why I am a little dissapointed. What is your milage today? regards Marcus |
