I bought my T-Bird ex-works in 1982 and still ride it. By modern standards it is neither fast nor great at road holding. Bends which scare the hell out of me at 50 mph on the T-Bird are merely slight deviations in the road at illegal speeds on a 900 Sprint. Maybe this is why the Sprint is up for sale and the T-bird is looking at rebuild over winter, it may not be as quick or as smooth, but the edge of the handling envelope is just below the point where you trip speed cameras. I´m not saying don´t enjoy modern bikes, I just don´t enjoy them as much. On mechanics it is relaible, provided you remember the service interval is 1500 miles and are prepared for an afternoon on the spanners. Ultimately it is a bike I can tinker with and enjoy riding. And no other bike sounds like a Triumph....... |
