I had a problem with a bit of a loping sound at idle with my 95 tbird, sounded like the engine was unbalanced / it had a funny cam, upon further inspection one of the carb connecting boots was torn and the high vacuum at idle was causing the grief.
if your sound is like that its worth checking out
