Hi. I was wondering if you could assist me. I am currently looking at a 1972 T120V. There appears to be a couple of things which seem unusual. The numbers match, but on the raised block on the motor (which has the Triumph logo stamped on it) only the serial number appears. It is stamped in the middle. This has left no room to stamp the T120V, which appears around the front of the crank case. Is this possible? I am told that the quality control on this sought of thing was quite lax at the time and this could have occurred. Experts (?) have looked and are convinced that the numbers have not been tampered with, the Triumph logo on the raised plate lends this way. Also the frame numbers are stamped on the right side instead of the left of the steering yolk. Again the experts say this did happen, and there are a few like that in New Zealand. Everything else on the bike appears to be original, down to the clip holding the seat down, which I am told were used on the 71/72 models. Look forward to your reply. Cheers Clive. |
