You should know that I have been riding since I received my first bike for my eleventh birthday, many years ago. I have ridden a multitude of machines. I ride 8,000 to 10,000 miles a year, which is quite a feat given the climate in western Pennsylvania. Most recently, among other rides, I have enjoyed a 2002 ST 955i, which I thought was among the best all around bikes out there until a week ago. I did not know the bike was under redesign (I just ride them). A hit-and-run of my 955i (parked while I was at work) sent me to the shop for repairs. My always accommodating dealer, who knows my penchant for new machines, sent me on a test ride of the 1055 ST. I was not to the first stop sign before I knew this was a drastically improved motorcycle. It now sits in my garage and some lucky rider will buy a used 955i with lots of extras. As for the style, I like the angles on the tank and the overall more aggressive feel and look to the machine. I prefer the darker mags over the silver ones; better for concealing brake dust and chain spray! Surprisingly, I did not add risers on this machine although I insisted on them for the 955i. As a former safety instructor, I appreciate the signals in the mirrors and the brightest lights possible for night riding. The windshield is much improved over the 955i, causing less helmet drag, less wind noise. This machine is incredibly nimble and the throttle response is like none I have experienced. The triple exhaust portruding from under the seat gets lots of looks. I can´t wait to get mine broken in so I can really enjoy it. My friends on their Hondas and Harleys will never understand the smile on my face, or the gentle tap-tap of my hand on the seat following each dismount. Kinda´ like "good doggie." Unfortunately, it snowed the day after I brought the 2005 ST home. Instead of riding, I am surfing for reviews of my new machine.
