1997 Sprint Ignition Problem

The bike will start with the kickstand up and in neutral but when I put the kickstand down (in neutral) the engine quits. Looked at the diagram and replaced the neutral safety switch and the kickstand safety switch both and still have the same problem. When the engine is running, if I pull the clutch in (in neutral) with the kickstand up, the neutral light on the dash starts to flicker and go out. The only thing I see left in the diagram is the ignition control box. Am I on the right trail? Also... when the bike gets up to temperature and this is going on...the engine starts to break up violently at higher RPM´s (3500 rpms and higher). Appreciate any input from you pro´s.... thanks!!!
