Yes, my pipes are stock. And yes, it does sound like you may have rich fuel mixture if you have excess deposit on your pipes. The oil I talk about, Marvel Mystery oil, has been sold here in the US for 30-40 years that I know of. Drag racers here use it all the time, as do performance vehicles. It is in a red bottle, and is designed to be added to either gas when you fill up, or added to your oil when you change the oil. I can tell immediately when I add it to gas. It cleans and lubricates, getting rid of carbon deposits and sludge build-up, in addition to prolonging engine life. I´m sure there are other gas and oil additives like it in your area. I think you should have your fuel mixture leaned out a little. I could be wrong but between the bad fuel econnomy and the appearance of rich deposits on your pipes, this seems to be the issue. I don´t know enough about jetting on Triumphs to offer any advice with those pipes. Perhaps someone else does. I have wanted louder pipes because my bike is too quiet. I know setting up carburation and valve breathing may be specific to the pipes bolted on, so I have hesitated. Hope you can get yours "dialed in". The warmer weather is finally here(I think). I rode the bike to work today. It was beautiful. We had snow two days ago, but today is much nicer, with temperatures around 15 degrees C.(60 degrees F) I am a windsurfer and I have a catamaran sail boat that I hope to begin using in about a month. Each year I can´t wait for the weather to warm up so I can go 20 minutes to the lake to go windsurfing or sailing or riding the bike here in Columbus,Ohio. My wife likes to do this stuff sometimes, and my two youngest boys have a little mini scooter they ride in front of our house. Our older two kids are more interested in teenager stuff(boys and girls). Gotta go. Be safe on the bike. |
