865 Speedmaster wont start!! HELP!!

865 Speedmaster wont start!! HELP!!

I had my 2005 speedmaster 865 delivered last week, due to work and weather I was only able to fire her up in the garage and tick her over, until today of course when the weather is perfect, she wont start. Instead, when the ignition is pressed there is a splutter, straining, whirring sound, and spark type ticking noise coming from the right hand side (starter motor?) I´m new to bike mechanics so i´m not sure what to look for. i took the fibresglass panel off and had a look at the wiring etc. and there wasn´t anything obvious. can anyone help me?
