Yep, have had the same problem twice on my 95 Triple. Just before I bought the bike in 2007 the starter had been repaired. The second time was last September when the starter gave up the ghost. Teeth on the starter ring were chipped off so the engine had to come out, expensive operation. The 300 series were known to have a problem with the starter. Sorry I can´t be more cheerfull.
