CJ, Just picked up my 2009 FLHX yesterday. I had a 2006, but the lure of a slightly larger engine and that sixth gear got me. I think I will love the cruise control that I did not have on my last one. Keeps the speeding tickets away. Also got the ABS. Never had the misfortune to ever lock them up, but my day will come. I keep reading about the 5th gear noise. It is the only gear that is not a helical cut one. I must say, I cannot detect much noise. How about you? Other concern is the comfort of my wife on the back. Got the Sundowner seat and floor boards to replace the pegs. Did that on the 2006, but she was still only good for about an hour before having to get off for awhile. The ride seems quite a bit harder than the 2006. Only had about 8lbs in the rear air shocks on the way home. Didn´t seem they were bottoming out though. With rider, the manual says to fill to at least 40 lbs. I fear this will rattle our fillings loose! Can you give me a feel for your experience with the air settings? Thanks. |
