I have a 1999 1200 Special Edition that I ride in Florida. It can be somewhat warm for the rider, but I have been on hotter motorcycles (like the Yamaha FJR). Speaking to engine temperature itself, since I had the baffels taken out of the stock mufflers (had a Dyan Jet kit and K&N air filter installed at the same time) the engine runs cooler, plus I get about another 18 horsepower. The baffel removal (fiberglasss is installed in its place) makes the engine sound a little deeper and really sings at higher revs.
