I own a ´96 Daytona 1200. It is a locomotive. Big, Heavy, Powerful. It is extremely well engineered and overbuilt. The T3 series motors of which this is one are bulletproof. Many have gone 100K+ miles. It sounds like the one you are considering needs a good carb cleaning. These bikes never had a recall as far as I can remember. Only other issues that have cropped up are the ignition coils can sometimes fail. That is an easy repair and the alternators have been an occasional problem in certain Triumphs with the T3 series motors. This can be costly. Otherwise they are rock solid. If you buy it just don´t grab a big handful first time out. The powerband is quite linear and broad but builds quickly above 5,500 rpm. Oh, and motor oil. You must use 15w-50 full synthetic. This is critical for a long lived Triumph 1200 motor.
