Try looking in the manual that came with the bike (if you have it) This bike also has a self diagnostic built into the guages. It sounds like it is giving you a warning for something ( the 8 flashes are a code for something if I remember right) My bike is in storage across town or I would get the manual and check the codes to see what it is. If I get over that way I will look. Your best bet is to see if the dealers service department will tell you what that code means BEFORE you bring it in for service.
