It depends on how experienced you are, as far as liter sport bikes and wheelies. At first it is best just to power up in first. You can "flutter" the throttle a bit and basically ride it through the remainder of the band.

If you know how to "clutch" a bike up....you will get the best results in second.

If you can ride, power up in first and then shift second on the stand and ride all the way through second, and shift third. YOu really have to have the bike up to maintain the wheelie in third...if you let it start towards the ground its going down.

To power up in first, run the bike up the the beginning of what I like to call the power band.... On this bike that is about 5500 to 11,000 rpms. Run it up to 5500, relax the throttle a bit, and then hammer, she will come right up.

To clutch it up in second, run the bike up to about 4500 in second...reach out with your left pointer finger and half clutch. (so that the clutch is half engaged, still pulling the bike somewhat, but allowing the rpms to come up...tach up to about 9000 rpms and release the clutch..again she will come right up.

Shifting in the stand is a bit tricky, you can not clutch or the front wheel will slam. You have to shift secon without clutching, which means you have to have it high enough in the air that you can feather the throttle a tad to get the shift. If you have torque on the gear no way are you going to get it to shift....you have to have the bike up and balanced on the rear. These are the techniques I use, some people may have other ways.

Also, you will find if you stiffen the rear a little, it comes up quite a bit easier than if you are set kind of spongy.
