Intermittent firing/carburation problem |

I´ve had my Ace for a year now, and for the last 9 months it´s had an intermittent problem: if you keep it going at a fair lick for more than a couple of minutes (i.e. at about 6000rpm), the engine starts stuttering, just slightly at first, but quickly gets worse until it feels like it´s completely misfiring and juddering like mad until it dies and won´t start. Sit patiently at the road side for about a minute and it starts up again and it acts like nothing ever happened. At first I thought it was a vacuum in the fuel tank, but I´ve pretty much eliminated that as a possibility now. Anyone know what could cause such behaviour? I´ll put my hand up now and say that I haven´t even serviced it since purchase (inexcusable I know, but finances have been so bad that holding onto the bike has been a challenge in itself), and I am about to put it in for a full service. But in the meantime if anyone has experienced this and knows/thinks they know the problem, please let me know! Thanks all, S. P.S. This problem (plus oil loss) aside, it´s still a great bike - can´t see much else out there that comes close as a sports tourer. |
