Tacho / ecu fault |

Hello can anybody help ! I have fitted a yamaha yzf 1000 thunderace engine into my kit car, and used the complete bike wiring loom.everthing was working fine until i had to extend the wiring loom.I had no fault codes except for low level fuel sender which i managed to bypass by means of ohms resistor to mimick what the sender does.I then chopped the main loom and added about 2 metres in length soldered everthing in.Then the car wouldnt start.I checked the wiring and found that there was 2 wires of the same colour white with red trace, one going to the exup motor, other going to ignition coil pickup in crankcase.I checked for a spark, no spark. So swopped the wires round, engine started,so for a short while had the wires the wrong way round cranking the engine.Since this the exup motor has failed to work and is showing the appropiate fault code on the tacho I tested the exup motor and it failed the testing.so is definetly faulty i think i burnt it out when it had the wrong white with red trace wir to it.I have fitted a new servo motor the situation has improved now the exup motor rotates (as before it did nothing after the wiring was extended)the rev counter is stationary, then when the motor stops, tacho needle pulses fault code, motor starts rotatig again and process keeps repeating itself the engine will start fine.I am wondering whether the ecu is unable to find the exup position when trying to start the engine and is that why the servo motor keeps stopping and starting with ignition left on? The wire to ecu when it was wired incorrect, is it possible that it may have damaged this circuit within the ecu as it had 12v up it when it was wired incorrect when normally I think a pulse signal comes from the ecu to the exup motor.Do´s anybody have any ideas how I can test any of the above further, especially the ecu side of things as im scratching my head now and running out of ideas but id like to test further if anybody can help before i think about have to take a guess and replace the ecu when it might be something simple i may have overlooked. Thanks Simon |
