Sprocket change effecting clutch

I changed sprockets n took front sprocket cover off. I ended up with an almost sleeve like rubber piece for the end of a rod with a concave tip I don’t know where it came from but now my clutch doesn’t fully engage. Where do I put this rubber piece to make my clutch work again?
