The forks will fit but you to use your stock 490 lower tree bearing and the upper tree bearing and race from the wr 500 front end.The stem on the wr 500 tree is longer you will have to make a bearing spacer, to space up your frame neck then it will work.I just put a 1989 yz 250 inverted forks on my 1987 yz 490.
