I have a friend who has an ´81 XV920R with nearly 100k on it. They last well. Starter gears are about the only problem. On some carb manifold rubber gets cracked. Coat with the stuff used for dipping tool handles, liquid plastic, or brush on liquid electrical insulation. No problems with mine at 36k. Walt
