´m new here too. I had an 1100 Virago I rode 88,000 miles (to 100,000 on the odometer) and liked it enough to get a 750 four years later. It rides very easily and comfortably. Took many cross country trips on the 1100, including one five months and 17,000 miles long. The 1100 developed many quirky, idiosyncratic but minor problems by the time I sold it, but the motor remained strong, using oil very little to the end. The 750 handles and runs great too. Occasionally I miss the additional horses when accelerating at high speed, but not that much. The mpg is wonderful during these California $4 a gallon days (tho I heaven´t actually paid that much). The handling has become second nature to me and I am very comfortable riding in crazy CA traffic. Splitting lanes, only in CA, makes a huge difference in getting about here. Traffic jams are totally handleable. The Virago is not as wide as some of the other cruisers, making getting through traffic easier. In short, it is a great bike.
