I live in Thailand. There are no Yamaha big bike dealers here, only for small motorbikes. I don´t trust the street side mechanics and have imported a Haynes repair manual and will attempt repairs and tuneups myself. The questions are; What can I do about the horrenmdous starter grinding? It sounds like I have dropped a garbage can full of metal and sometimes won´t even engage. I have come to realize this is a design flaw, but is there an after market kit I cn order to mitigate the grinding and terrible noise? Where can I order engine and tuneup parts? I believe I have a 1993 model but my frame and engine #s are not listed in my manual. Frame and Engine # IFM-001056. Can anyone identify the year? Any answers to these questions will be appreciated.
