I have had 2 xv 750 over the last 20 years and the starter is the weak spot on this bike. However I have now taken the time and effort to finally solve the problem. On youtube there is an outstanding video that shows not only what the problem actually is but also how to fix it. Many owners claim it is the startermotor that is bad but it is acutally the starter gear nr.2 that needs to be peplaced along with the spring and clip that makes it move. I ordered a new (original YAMAHA-parts) set from Ronnies mailorder. I live in Sweden so I was happy that they delivered the stuff smoothly and after watching the video I then got to work and an hour later the problem was gone and the bike starts just like new!!! Goog luck! /Jonas |
