I bought a ´99 last summer with over 25,000 kms on it and put another 5000 on it, no problems and to address your specific question, no heat problems with the rear cylinder. It handles beautifully at low or highway speeds. Sitting at a stoplight in high summer with the temperature in the 30´s will warm your thighs, though. It is air cooled after all! Recommend it highly.
