I recently got my xt with a similar problem. I pulled the carbs off, took them apart, cleaned it out even though it didn´t look dirty. After all was done , it ended up being something simple as the clamp on the airbox side of the carb was bad and was letting in to much air. Check the carbs, maybe the valves, don´t give up, it´s a fun bike.
